Snoring recorder app: find out if you snore

Updated October 31, 2026

A snoring recorder app listens while you sleep and saves the moments it hears sound. SleepBoo records snoring, coughing, and sleep talk, shows what time each one happened, and keeps the recordings only on your iPhone. If you hear breathing pauses or gasping, talk to a doctor.

How the recorder works

  • Put your iPhone next to the bed and start tracking
  • The app records snoring, coughing, and talking during the night
  • In the morning, listen to the clips and see when they happened

Why people snore

The NHS lists being overweight, smoking, drinking too much alcohol, and sleeping on your back among the common factors. Recording several nights can help you notice patterns, such as louder snoring after an evening with alcohol.

When snoring needs a doctor

Mayo Clinic advises talking to a professional if you notice any of these signs:

  • Snoring loud enough to disturb your sleep or someone else’s
  • Waking up gasping or choking
  • Pauses in breathing during sleep
  • Excessive daytime drowsiness

What the app can’t tell you

SleepBoo doesn’t diagnose sleep apnea. Confirming it takes a medical evaluation and a sleep study. Your recordings can still be a useful thing to bring to the appointment.

Frequently asked questions

Are my snoring recordings private?

Recordings stay only on your iPhone.

Can a snoring app detect sleep apnea?

No. SleepBoo records sound and is not a diagnostic tool. If you have warning signs such as breathing pauses or gasping, see a doctor.

Do anti-snoring products work?

Mayo Clinic notes that most over-the-counter snoring products haven’t been proven effective in clinical trials. Lifestyle changes such as losing weight, avoiding alcohol near bedtime, and treating nasal congestion are the usual first steps.
